My name is Leanne Rebekah. I am known by many names, some of which are: Christian, sister, student, artist, writer, singer, musician, dreamer, beloved daughter of the King.
I’m an English major, which basically translates that I’m a book nerd. I actually enjoy reading, learning, studying, and going to school. I love to learn, and constantly search on google, read my dictionary, or pick a scholarly friend’s brain for information. I currently attend UC Davis, my dream college since I was a young girl. The one thing I have yet to learn at Davis, however, is how to catch a fella. The campus is teeming with brilliant ones, though I have as yet to snag one for myself. Oh well, I guess.
I love to listen to, sing, and write music. Especially country. I know, hate me all you want, I still love it. I taught myself how to play guitar and love to practice playing my black acoustic Fender, named Ezra.
I love the rain. Especially singing and dancing in it. Fall is probably my favorite season of the year, because of the gorgeous colored leaves and the chilly weather that’s perfect for curling up with a good book and a hot cup of coffee. I love playing in the snow; too bad I’m a central Californian where it doesn’t get cold enough to snow. But I also love to bundle up in fun winter wear like scarves, gloves, boots, hats, head-scarves, and all manner of warmth-inducing paraphernalia.
Writing is a huge passion of mine, if you couldn’t already tell. I love to write songs and poetry. The English language is one of the simplest languages in terms of tense and vocabulary; however, it is magnificently complicated when the words are intricately woven together by a master poet. I believe language is one of the most beautiful expressions of our God-given creativity. One of my favorite sayings is: “Poets are soldiers that liberate words from the steadfast possession of definition.” Though I am fascinated by looking up definitions of uncommon and rarely used words, poetry takes ordinary words on a page and transforms them into literary works of art. I can only dream of writing with such talent and wit as the greatest poets in history. To paint as beautiful a picture with words on a page as the great Michelangelo painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel would be a dream come true. However, I do also paint obsessively. It is one of my favorite activities to liberate my vast imagination and express my emotions. I paint with watercolors and acrylic, as well as dabble with charcoal. I also love to mix and match materials. The stark contrast of the black and white charcoal drawings entices my eye and incites my imagination to higher extents. I also love photography because it captures that perfect instantaneous moment when nature hovers on the brink of life and death. Our world is teeming with inspiration and originality; it takes only an inquisitive mind, a sharp eye for eccentricity, a keen sense of curiosity and a hint of awe to discover the secrets hidden in the mystery of nature.
Oh yeah, and I’m basically addicted to coffee. I drink it every day, and strong. I have many dreams, one of which is to own my own coffee shop someday to serve delicious classic coffee drinks as well as uniquely crafted specialty concoctions created by yours truly.
I am full of contradictions; I love the beach but hate sand. I love staring up at the stars and moon, but hate the darkness; I live for the Light. I love cold weather but hate to be cold. I’m a leftie, but I’m always in my right mind. I am dark, but lovely. I desire love but my heart is already spoken for by the Lover of my soul. I am always asking questions, wondering, discovering but forever satisfied by my only solution: Jesus. I am infinitely sinful, but eternally saved, redeemed, pursued, and loved. I am conditional, but He is without condition or restraint. I am bound by this earthly body, but He is limitless, immeasurable, and infinite. I am flawed, deficient, lacking, inadequate, insufficient, powerless, and imperfect but I am made unblemished, adequate, complete, abundant, whole, powerful, and perfect in my Savior.
